Where can you find all three: Bagpipes, Booze and Beauty??? SCOTLAND. This amazing country gave us our first taste of adventure, and that first feeling of being homesick for a place we've never lived before.

This is Jen standing on the path leading to "The Three Sisters" in the Highlands of Scotland. We took a tour starting in Edinburgh, traveling through the Highlands, tasting whiskey at Deanston Distillery and ending with a yacht ride on Loch Ness!
“This was such an incredible experience. The Highlands were overwhelming and it makes you realize just how beautiful our world really is.”
Our tour guide's name was Mark and he was awesome. The first thing he said was, "Please don't scream, the roads are narrow and I drive fast." Needless to say, a few narrow escapes occurred on the windy roads leading to Fort Augustus.
This was a day trip from Scotland, roughly 13 hours to do everything we did that day...but very worth it. We booked this tour through Travelocity using the company HairyCoo. They picked us up at DeaconHouseCafe and then we were off! Mark, our guide, was hilarious and knowledgable. He told amazing stories, answered questions and played numerous Scottish songs on our scenic drive. We marveled at the views in the Highlands in Glencoe, stopping to take dozens of photos and wonder at how lucky we were to be there. Tons of Outlander and Harry Potter film locations (which made my heart skip a beat) that were breathtaking as well. We then visited Deanston Distillery and sampled some amazing scotch whiskey and had the BEST bagel on the planet. Once our bellies (and hearts) were full, we made our way to Fort Augustus and embarked on a yacht cruise of LOCH NESS! Unfortunately we did not see Nessie, but we could definitly feel her presence in the dark, deep waters. After that, we stopped at Commando Memorial and Cairngorm National Park. A few other small stops and it was back in Edinburgh for the night! Perfect, perfect day and on a budget of about $150 if you include the extra excursions of the cruise and whiskey tastings.
