Painted Mines Painted My Heart!

Writer's picture: J & JJ & J

So...the Painted Mines Interpretive Park was totally unexpected. I had previously found this random Colorado activity on Pinterest and it was on our "if we have time" itinerary. I am SO glad we made time for this place! However, don't get scared if you think you're lost when you go. It's in the middle of NO WHERE about 1.5 hrs from where we were staying in Denver. After (what seemed liked hours) we arrived...I was immediately disappointed! Everything looked so small and I was pretty mad that we drove all this way to see a tiny ditch in the ground.

Boy was I wrong!!!!! I chose to trust Jeremy's gut and start climbing the large hill, and thank goodness I did! These rock formations were large and weird and very trippy. They were all these rainbow colors, and it felt like we were on another planet! We followed the trail through these megalith rocks and we just felt enchanted. Although it was a pretty far drive, and we were kind of scared, and kind of lost...I am so happy and thankful we found the Painted Mines. This place should be on everyone's Bucketlist!
